The average story in this collection of 18 is twenty pages long, but each one has an absurd number of nutcase ideas per page, and it’s wonderful. They both rely heavily on their plots, with very little characterization.

I cannot recommend this book enough to anyone who enjoys hard science ficiton. One story in particular “Into Darkness” I would count as the best sci-fi short story I’ve ever read, just from the sheer audacity of the idea, and how it’s executed.
