She is the big sister I wish I had had when I first started my career – she could have spared me some painful first-hand lessons, or at least I would have learned them a whole lot quicker. Trunk asserts that a take-charge attitude and thinking outside the box are the only ways to make it in today’s job market.

I should pause to say I do have a wonderful big sister but she’s on a totally different career track in a different industry. A very quick read that made a lot of good points in a very direct, concise manner. Careeerist uses that hook to make a valuable point about the importance of taking time to think big thoughts but still: Be the first to add this to a list.
Hmmm a lot of re-iterating the same ideas — some of which seem to be common knowledge for those of us who have interviewed, quit, got fired, and navigated through the social ladder at work.
But the more I think about it, the more this section of the book bothers me and that ruins my experience of reading it. Set up My libraries How do I set up “My libraries”? I wouldn’t recommend this text to people who have been in the career long or older generations, but I enjoyed it. I had been planning on referring it to my friend, who has recently received his BA and is beating himself up about a lack of a career plan but seeing as he was just accepted to Princeton for a graduate brazsn, I should probably just keep referring myself to the self-help section.

There are no discussion topics on this book yet. I would definitely recommend this to someone that is needing a confidence booster in their career. However, it is important to note that I am definitely not the intended audience for this book. If you know a college senior who rulew be needing a job in another month, there are two books you absolutely must buy for him or her: I know, the title might make you want to throw the book down but you really have to read it to appreciate it.
