I understand the purpose and utility of Rincewind, but honestly The jokes became funnier and the two new characters became brighter! Our hero from the first two books in the Discworld series, Rincewind, returns with a young sourcerer arriving at Unseen University.
We welcome back Rincewind to save the day, against his will of course, accompanied by his trusty luggage. I remembered the boy wizard Coin as the reason why I disliked this book on first read but this time it became apparent that it wasn’t his fault diswcorld all, it was Conina and Nigel and Creosote, the pointless threesome that seemed to exist solely as a running joke without driving the narrative.
But some other elements of the discworlf are purely the product of Pratchett’s ineffable imagination Please feel free to draw your own. It has Pratchett’s trademark lightning pacing, and it fires gags and one-liners at you as if from a fully automatic Uzi.

Pratchett’s Discworld books are always entertaining and cleverly written. The basic over-story is pretty good, as is the action and most of the humor, but there was still swaths of text that felt like it was trying too hard. Rincewind eventually convinces Coin to throw the staff away, but Ipslore’s power is channelled against that of his son.
I hope I am not going to miss anything this way?
