Also jajes search for his children was great, I loved how he handled the nasty man who had his eldest boy, I was cheering. When a Scot Ties the Knot.
With time seeming to slip away, Jemma and Elijah are locked head to head in a match worthy of the two consummate chess players they are. Wedding bells celebrating the arranged marriage between the lovely Duchess of Beaumont and her staid, imperturbable duke had scarcely fallen silent when a shocking discovery sent Jemma running from the ducal mansion.
Let me tell you, if my husband were about to die from an unknown disease, I would react exactly the way Jemma does. Elijah is that staid person, he’s always proper, always doing the right thing, even at the risk of his health and happiness. He cheated on her, she caught them, he told her that he loved his mistress and she left him.
I appreciate jxmes this book was told over multiple books, because I think it needed that much room to grow and would have felt too quick thf one book.
Most of the book is a long-drawn-out build-up to their first reunion love scene, a chess game played in bed, that’s one of the most unusual of any romance book that I’ve read 3 stars — Historical Romance This sloisa a rather odd reunion romance about a married couple who’ve ducheas separated for 9 years due to immaturity, ego, lies, jammes, misunderstandings, pride, jealousy, and betrayals but suddenly find themselves obsessed and in love with each other like a couple of giddy, infatuated teenagers.
And she had been assured by male attention from age sixteen that she was precisely what a lustful man would like to find in his bed. I read half of the book. Now, on to Villiers book without waiting what seems like months between ; Naturally it was used as angst for the two but the eloiza I struggled with is truly believing they fell in love again, or more importantly Elijah loving Jemma. Elijah put a hand on her hair and a small rose tumbled into his lap.
But I did end up enjoying their reunion and how fiercely Jemma fought for their future by finding a doctor to cure her husband of his irregular heartbeat. James should have cured Elijah in the first chapter and found another conflict to hang this story on. I think it strikes on a personal level for me. I liked reading about Elijah’s work in the gov’t though, how he was trying to help the poor and especially his glassworks for the blind men.
Fourth, enough with the chess. I’d be a hysterical crying mess. Seduced by a Pirate. I liked it but dcuhess, I was not fully satisfied with the story she told here.
Elijah, Duke of Beaumont, did believe those rumors. It got sexy all of the sudden. He is someone who is driven almost too much by honor – whether in politics or in accepting his guilt for his marriage falling apart. Aside from that, I really feel like EJ is a genius for being able to capture the 18th century the way she did.
For many readers, it may push the boundaries of comfort zones the entire story, from the beginning makes it clear it willbut I loved it. We’ve been getting to know Jemma and Elijah over four books and it definitely showed in the depth the characters had in this book.
The Taming of the Duke April has obvious Shakespearean resonances, as do many of my novels. The amount of years they wasted might be too much to allow things to get fixed between them.
The thing that honestly had me finally picking up this book besides boredom was Elijah’s heart condition and it being the ‘catalyst’ that lures the estranged couple back together. And I will say this if anything this book made me really want to re-read Leopold, Duke of Villiers book again. Oct 29, willaful rated it it was ok Recommends it for: You have to read to find out.
This book answered my questions rather well.
EJ has a witty, amusing style and the book proceeds at a steady pace with no noticable lull. He has decided he needs an heir, and he needs one now. Once Elijah realizes the effect it has on his wife and his marriage, he stops the relationship immediately. In fact, she wants the impossible: May 26, Imprint: And now it’s years later and the two of them have decided to try to give their marriage another chance for the sake of an heir, if nothing else.
Honestly, ducness though I love Ms.
jaes I must also admit, I find myself hoping Ms. And now, Elijah called upon Jemma since he needed a heir after suffering mild heart attack Well, what else do you expect from those log heads?? Despite herself, Jemma smiled. This is my favorite book of the series, without a doubt. You can remove the unavailable item s now or we’ll automatically remove it at Checkout. Yeah, right, as if jumping from the conjugal bed to the office desk was more palatable conduct than his deceased father’s.
She wanted Elijah at her feet. He’s not for everyone and self-serving but has his selfless moments and genuinely wants to find a woman who loves elolsa.
Second, she invented some stupid plan to win her husbands heart. It always strikes me as a huge irony that as a romance writer I find myself married to a knight, a cavaliereas you say in Italian. With the template drawn only in outline so readers could DIY, Eloisa then issued a challenge: But the ending was very sweet and I was glad to see things work out for this couple.
I have to admit that it was too easy for my taste.
